OK Magazine has
the late King of Pop Micheal Jackson on the cover of its latest issue. According to reliable sources,
OK Magazine paid $500,000 for the cover photo of the
dying Michael Jackson. Reportedly intended to pay tribute to the King of Pop, it's now creating outrage among the legendary pop icon's musician friends and fans. In fact, as of this writing, a petition is ongoing to stop the publication of more copies of
OK Magazine Micheal Jackson Cover. They believe that it's not in any way trying to showcase the musical legacy of Michael Jackson but instead, trying to make more money by creating sensationalism on the untimely death of the King of Pop.
The petition argues that OK Magazine has violated Micheal Jackson’s right to privacy. Sarah Ivens, OK!’s editorial director, is trying to defend the cover as quoted here:
“It’s a photo that captures the surprise and the upset and the moment of this breaking news story . . . I hope the cover will provoke readers. It celebrated the man, but it also does expose that he was an eccentric character who lived a very controversial life.”
Now people, you be the judge. Personally speaking, I find the act blatantly insensitive. Dying Micheal Jackson on the cover of any publication will just add pain to the bereaved family and fans of the King of Pop.
