Happy Father's Day | Fathers Day Gift Ideas

Father's Day is just around the corner. For children like me, we want to make our fathers feel special on that day. Fathers Day gift ideas are aplenty, but only a few of them really touches a father's heart. I'm not an expert when it comes to gift ideas, but for fathers, a nice greeting card with personalized message is a winner. Also, you might want to consider preparing a special meal for him. After all, that's the way your mom used to get to his heart. Or, you may opt to buy him a present such as a new tie, a new pair of socks or a new pair of pants.

And if you have a lot of cash to burn, why not treat him to the spa so he could relax and you two could have a bonding moment. If he's a techie like you, why not use some customized My Space graphics and comments to show him that you care. Or twit and plurk to the world that he's the best father on earth, for everyone to know.

Remember that even small things are effective. Father's day gift ideas should never be something that you cannot afford or will force you to break the bank. Fathers are simple people, all they want to hear from their children is how much they love him or how much they appreciate the work he puts into the family.

Advance Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! You really are the best! :)

AyosDito.ph: Scam-Protected or Not?

They claim to be "your marketplace in the Philippines." They're an online, classified ad site made by Filipinos for Filipinos. The site's name is AyosDito.ph. I heard my online friends talk about their good shopping experience with them. I think it's a good thing because word of mouth is a sure way of promoting a business, may it be online or offline. The question is, is AyosDito.ph capable of protecting its users/clients from scammers posing as legit dealers?

Admittedly, it's too early to tell if a new website or service provider has the capacity to keep its users from getting victimized by scammers. As long as there are people who are into illegal business, there will always be victims of scams. That's why precautionary measures are very important, especially when shopping online.

In fairness to AyosDito.ph, they provide tips and reminders that aim to educate or warn users when transacting with dealers.

No to Con-Ass Badges for your Blogs or Websites

Con-Ass or Constitutional Assembly is the hottest topic in the Philippines today after the House of Representatives approved Resolution 1109 (Con-Ass Bill) that aims to alter or revise the Philippine Constitution. Obviously, the general public does not approve of it and as a show of outrage and disappointment, you can now see the proliferation of No to Con-Ass badges across the internet, particularly on Filipino blogs and websites. If you're looking for No to Con-Ass badges, I got one here from Macuha.com:

Feel free to post it on your blog or website. Will update this post once I gathered more No to Con-Ass badges online.

David Carradine is Dead: Bangkok Suicide or Foul Play?

Yes, it was confirmed. David Carradine, 72 years old, died in a hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand today. Thai police has not yet confirmed if it was a suicide or there had been foul play because the Hollywood actor was found dead hanging by a nylon rope. David Carradine was known because of his portrayal as a Shaolin monk in the popular TV series "Kung Fu" and as Bill in two Kill Bill movies starred by Uma Thurman.

Hollywood must be in grief now due to the untimely passing of Carradine. There's no denying that he was a good actor. I still remember having watched Kill Bill 1 and 2 and had sympathy to his character there because even if he was a bad guy in the said movies, he took good care of Uma Thurman's child. Funny but true.

My condolences go to David Carradine's family and loved ones.

LTFRB: Metro Manila Taxis To Issue Receipts To Passengers

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced that starting today, taxi drivers within Metro Manila are to issue receipts for taxi fares. Normally, receipts must come directly from taxi meters but at this point, taxi drivers can only give manual receipts to passengers. LTFRB has deferred the implementation of the new policy to give taxi operators and drivers the time to acquire the needed devices.

LTFRB Chairman Alberto Suansing said the receipts will indicate the name of the operator, name of the taxi driver, license plate, place of the transaction and the amount of the fare, among others.

This is good news for commuters like me, but then again, I hope our taxi drivers will follow the rules accordingly.
