US President Barack Obama named former United Nations Ambassador Richard Holbrooke as Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan yesterday. 67-year old Holbrooke is the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. He is also the chief architect of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement that ended the war in Bosnia and served as foreign policy adviser of Hillary Clinton (appointed by Obama as Secretary of State) in her failed presidential bid in the recent elections won by Obama.
